How many times did you see a ghostly RNA on your gel even after storing at -80C? Lets not get into numbers, and make a cheaper alternative to #RNAlater.

Recipe
1. 700 g #AmmoniumSulfate
2. 25 ml 1M #SodiumCitrate
3. 40 ml 0.5 M #EDTA
4. 935 ml of #DEPC-treated double autoclaved milliQ water to prepare 1 litre of #DIYRNAlater
Place the mix on a hot plate stirrer at low heat to help dissolve the ammonium sulfate crystals. Upon total dissolution, cool it down a bit and adjust pH to 5.2 with #SulfuricAcid. Do NOT cool the solution much or the Ammonium sulfate will start #crystallizing.
Uses
To store fresh tissues in order to isolate RNA later on.
